partners launch a set of electronic tools to help hotels reach zero-Power Consumption

The set of electronic tools neZEH evaluates the energy efficiency of hotels through a questionnaire and identifies options for energy efficiency, including the efficient use of non-renewable sources, while raising awareness of the issue through inspiring examples .

The near-zero Energy Hotels (neZEH) set of electronic tools, which is available online at: www.nezeh.eu evaluates the energy efficiency of hotels and proposes measures to improve efficiency and increase the use of renewable energy sources for almost zero consumption. The toolkit is the result of a project over three years funded by the European Union.

The set of electronic tools neZEH evaluates the energy efficiency of hotels through a questionnaire and identifies options for energy efficiency, including the efficient use of non-renewable sources, while raising awareness of the issue through inspiring examples .

The project aims to support hotels in Europe to comply with the regulations of almost zero energy buildings (NZEB), which requires all EU Member States to meet by 2020. A building NZEB must demonstrate a high level level of energy efficiency. The near-zero, or very low, the amount of energy required to be generated very significantly by renewable energy sources, including those produced on-site or nearby.

As stated by the Secretary General of UNWTO, Taleb Rifai, "this unprecedented initiative shows not only the concerns, but also the high level of commitment, the tourism sector to address one of the concerns around the world: climate change".

Sixteen hotels across seven European countries (Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Romania, Spain and Sweden) have participated in the project as a pilot European neZEH Hotels. These are inspiring examples to become the European hotel industry on how to implement best practices to achieve performance nearly zero energy level.

Prior to the implementation of the set of electronic tools, the political implications of a tourism sector zero energy in Europe were discussed in the European Parliament on 17 March 2016. The event, aimed at heads of regional, national policies and European, they stressed the need to reduce legislative barriers and introduce support measures to promote zero energy growth and ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of tourism in the EU.

The neZEH project is co-funded by the European Commission under the Intelligent Energy Programme for Europe. Its aim is to accelerate the rate of large-scale renovation of hotels near zero energy buildings (NZEB), providing technical advice to hoteliers and demonstration of flagship projects NZEB in the European hospitality sector.

The neZEH partnership includes ten partners in seven European countries: the Technical University of Crete-Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab (Greece), the coordinator of the project partner, together with the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Network of the Region European sustainable and competitive tourism (NECSTouR), sustainable Innovation (Sweden), Creara Consultores SL (Spain), Energy Institute Hrvoje Pozar (Croatia), the Istituto Superiore sui Sistemi per l'Innovazione Territoriali (Italy), the Agency BraÅŸov for Energy Management and Environmental Protection (Romania), the European Federation of heating and air conditioning associations (Netherlands), and energies 2050 (France).

Chains must move quickly to maintain revenue growth in the face of softening Reservations

After enjoying years of unprecedented growth, the hotel industry now needs to prepare for difficult times ahead, for example Alan Lewis and Dan McKone, CEOs in L.E.K. Consultant.

2016 has finally seen a slowdown in the growth of revenue per available room. And in some bellwether markets such as New York, recently they experienced declines. Meanwhile, many of the properties that construction started during the boom are connecting, adding supply to the market, they say.

"Hotels have had a relatively easy time finding growth in recent years, and some may have become complacent," says Lewis. "To survive a downturn, they have to work harder to protect margins while keeping their full beds."

Added services key to surviving the downturn

With base rates under pressure, more powerful strategy available for hotels - in all price points - is to create a series of addressing the needs of different customer segments optional supplementary services.

"Hotel chains need to rethink that one size fits all cuts across many of its products," says McKone. "With more options, which can better meet the needs of its customers, increasing its total income per person and win the loyalty that is based on more than price and promotion."

Lewis and McKone are authors (Harvard Business Review Press, 2016). The book demonstrates how business leaders can unlock new value by taking a closer look, and perhaps modify, intersections of the assets they already have and customers who have already paid. Continually doing this leads to what they call a "mindset Edge" and opportunities for new revenues and profits with little risk.

What is the Celotex Asbestos Settlement Trust?

 Asbestos Settlement

February 1 of 1998 was the founding date of the Celotex Asbestos Settlement Trust. This trust fund was the result of the bankruptcy declared by Celotex Corporation and Carey Canada.

Celotex Corporation, based off of Delaware, was originally founded in 1964. The company specialized in manufacturing and distributing building and roofing products for residential and commercial use. Celotex's subsidiary Carey Canada ran operations in mining and processing asbestos.

Asbestos exposure is known as the cause for a variety of severe and fatal health conditions. Year after year, mesothelioma, asbestosis and certain forms of asbestos induced lung cancers are responsible for thousands of patients getting diagnosed or die as a result of having developed any of the aforementioned diseases. Unfortunately, all illnesses caused by asbestos are known for their long latency period, in other words, before a conclusive diagnosis can be made, chances are that the disease has progressed to a more advanced stage already. Mesothelioma and lung cancer have a poor outlook on survival, a cure is yet to be found and the current treatments are targeted to provide the patient with the best possible quality of life, but cannot prevent the disease from progressing further.

Celotex and Carey Canada had to file bankruptcy on October 12 of 1990 and the installation of the Celotex Asbestos Trust was a consequence of that. In a nutshell, the purpose of the trust is to review valid asbestos injury claims as well as processing and issuing the compensations accordingly. But who is eligible for filing a claim with the Celotex trust?

Anyone who suffered a personal injury due to asbestos exposure while he was employed by either Celotex or Carey Canada, or any of their predecessors, is allowed to file a claim under the conditions of the trust. Furthermore, the trust does protect those who are actually not injured yet, but may have reason and proof to be at a risk of developing an asbestos induced disease as a result of their tenure with Celotex or Carey Canada. The initial deadline for filing a claim was March 15 of 1996. If an individual is uncertain of his eligibility, he may still go ahead and file a claim. The claim will be evaluated internally and a decision will be made as to whether or not it is found to be valid under the terms and conditions of the Celotex Asbestos
Compensation Trust.

If your claim receives approval, you will get an offer for compensation. In case you accept the offer as is, you can expect a check within a few months. But either way, it is strongly advisable to seek the help of a personal injury asbestos lawyer to assist you in filing your claim, just to make sure that all your paperwork is in order and that you will receive the maximum out of your case.

The author Tony Ulrich was diagnosed with kidney cancer in October of 2009. In his research on what his cancer could have been caused by, he came across with data that suggests a strong link to environmental toxics, such as asbestos. What You Need To Know About Asbestos Poisoning

Asbestos Poisoning

Asbestos poisoning is considered at cause for a wide range of ailments, specifically several cancers of the lung. People who has been poisoned in this manner may be entitled to legal compensation for the illnesses from which they suffer, is they can prove that prolonged exposure to asbestos is responsible for their health conditions. in this article we'll discuss asbestos, how it poisons people, and what is being done to stop the spread of disease.

Asbestos is a fibrous mineral that occurs naturally. It is still mined in many parts of the world, including Canada. Before the medical community noted the responsibility of asbestos in causing various health problems, this mineral was used widely in the building industry for fire-proofing and insulation. It was also utilized in the automotive industry in the manufacture of brake pads and other tiles.

When asbestos is left intact, it does not cause any health problem. When it is disturbed, however, people in the vicinity can unknowingly breath in the mineral fibers. This disturbance may be caused by pulling asbestos insulation out of a ceiling, or stripping it from water pipes in a basement of an old house. It is this exposure that has been linked to various health problems.

The most serious consequence of exposure to this mineral is cancer of the lungs, but the cancerous cells may also appear in other body parts. Patients may develop lung conditions such as asbestosis, pleural plaque, or mesothelioma while also experiencing skin lesions due to mineral particles which may be lodged in the epidermis.

The major issue with asbestos poisoning is that it can take several years before its symptoms appear. This makes it difficult to determine when and how a person was exposed. It is straightforward for an asbestos miner to claim that the exposure was occupational, but it more complex for people who work on old buildings to identify where their exposure occurred.

Regardless of where and how people were exposed, the afflictions that result require serious medical treatment. because of the contentious nature of asbestos related disease., most patients who are diagnosed with conditions related to this mineral find themselves dealing with lawyers almost immediately. If you should go this route, choose experienced legal representation.

The construction industry has put asbestos abatement programs in place to remove the mineral from old buildings and vehicles. Medical science continues to take steps to reduce and eliminate infections related to asbestos. Countless law firms are pursuing litigation against companies that exposed people to the mineral.

At present this is as much as we can do to eliminate the asbestos threat, keep society safe from further asbestos poisoning, and care for those that are suffering from illness related to exposure.

Why Asbestos Testing Is So Important

Asbestos Testing

We hear about asbestos testing and wonder why it is so important? You will even find some writers and bloggers try to convince you there are no dangers related to asbestos exposure. But no matter how the data is spun or twisted danger exists and asbestos testing is very important any way you look at it.

By zeroing in on the U.S. alone estimates of the death rate caused by mesothelioma is more than ten thousand people every year. Exposure to asbestos causes thousands of people to suffer from many other diseases that are non-fatal.

We hear the word almost every day (mesothelioma) sure cancer and death come to mind but many wonder what it is. The organs are all protected by a membrane called (mesothelium). The thin membrane covers organs such as the heart, lungs and abdomen. The disease mesothelioma attacks the mesothelium.

Asbestos dangers are everywhere but some of the worst offenders occur in everyday working environments. Carpenters, electricians, ship building, plumbers, insulation workers and asbestos abatement teams. Workers from all the different environments leave the work sites with the asbestos fibers on their clothing and indirectly expose their families and others they come in contact with.

One of the major reasons that some believe the dangers are not real is because symptoms of exposure may not appear for 20 to 50 years after exposure. So sometimes the connection is not made between asbestos exposure and mesothelioma. Once diagnosed the survival rate is 2 years or less.

In the U.S. some recent studies confirmed more than 28 million pounds of asbestos are still used to make many things. Commonly used in ship manufacturing and construction processes because of its insulating properties. You would not believe the large numbers of people live as close as 2640 feet from sites the mine asbestos and use it in manufacturing processes.

Asbestos testing is of major importance because of the possibility of exposure. The asbestos fibers are invisible so there is no way other than testing to verify the possibility of exposure. There is also no way of knowing if materials used in construction contain asbestos simply by looking at it. It is possible to safely collect asbestos samples but they must be sent to a certified testing facility to verify.

Asbestos samples must be collected and submitted to a facility for asbestos testing. Professional qualified people can safely perform the asbestos sampling. There are do-it-yourself asbestos testing kits that will instruct you how to perform the sampling safely yourself.

Asbestos insulating properties are regarded as the best in the world so for many years it was used for insulating everything you can think of going back 4000 years. Not much was done about the dangers until the late 1970s. The used of the mineral was banned for use in construction and other materials. Asbestos is the name given to six types of naturally occurring fibers. The major problem is the fibers are microscopic and easily become airborne. The danger occurs when inhaled.

The EPA requires the PLM method of asbestos testing which is performed with very powerful microscopes. The PLM method is (polarized light microscopy) analysis. This type of asbestos testing verifies the type and the amount of asbestos contained in the samples submitter for testing.

Asbestos testing laboratories get their accreditation from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. They have set up the accreditation program that labs must comply with to do asbestos testing. Directory of Accredited Laboratories for testing can be found at: http://ts.nist.gov/Standards/scopes/plmtm.htm

Testing for asbestos [http://www.asbestosremovalsolutions.com/asbestos-testing-why-test-for-asbestos/] and asbestos removal solutions [http://www.asbestosremovalsolutions.com/] is a subject that everyone should be aware of for their own personal safety. Not to mention the safety of their families and friends.

Various Jobs With Asbestos Exposure Risks

Asbestos Exposure

With all the talk of asbestos and the serious health risks that it presents, it may surprise you to know that there are various jobs that have a risk of exposure to asbestos. Even though new homes today are nearly always built without the use of asbestos-containing products, there are workers that are still at risk.

Insulation

Many people are involved with the insulations of homes and businesses have an increased risk of having exposed to asbestos because many were built when asbestos was commonly used for insulation. These include:

Block insulation pipe coverings

Cement-containing asbestos

Attic and wall insulation

When these old insulation materials are moved or disturbed, the chance of exposure to the deadly toxins associated with asbestos increase.

Power Plants or Refineries

Many old power plants and refineries were built exclusively with asbestos, which means much of the asbestos still exists today. If these areas are disturbed in any way within these power plants, the risks of being exposed to asbestos rise.

Construction Industry

Those involved with construction are higher at risk because asbestos was used for both commercial and home-building materials. Some of these include:

Plaster, several patching products
Fire-proofing
Joint compounds also contained asbestos

 Plumbers and pipe fitters

Many pipes and insulation products in some of the buildings were made with asbestos products. Asbestos was a very common ingredient was used because, at the time, it was thought that it was a valuable product. Few knew of the serious health risks at the time.

Miners

Those miners who mine for talc and vermiculite are at a very high risk of exposure to asbestos because of the poor ventilation within the mines. Dust that continually is within the mine combined with the lack of proper breathing apparatus raises the risk. It comes as no surprise that miners of talc and vermiculite have a higher incidence of mesothelioma than other types of miners.

Automobile Mechanics

Many mechanics were exposed to asbestos due to brake pads, shoes, clutch lining and discs that were all commonly made with asbestos. Mechanics often did not wear any kind of protective gear but were constantly disturbing the asbestos, which put them in great danger of continually being exposed to the toxic fibers.

Many of the workers who became ill later became ill as a direct result of their daily exposure to asbestos. While many workers received compensation, this did not give them back the quality of life that they had before being exposed. The problem at the time was that no one truly knew the dangers of asbestos. In fact, it was a highly recognized and recommended product to use in both homes and businesses.

Final Thoughts

If you were exposed to asbestos and are now struggling with an illness directly related to asbestos exposure, you may want to contact an attorney to find out your rights.
If you have been exposed to asbestos you may want to consider a asbestos lawsuit to help recover compensation for damages.

Things You Should Know About Asbestos Law Suits

 Asbestos Law Suits

People who have suffered asbestos-related illnesses like mesothelioma most often than not file for asbestos law suits. Those who have been exposed to asbestos, including their loved ones and families who were also affected, are usually the plaintiffs in this case, while companies who are considered responsible for the illnesses of these people are the defendants. However, in the past, before people were educated about the dangers of asbestos, asbestos law suits only targeted the innocent employers, asbestos installers and manufacturers, landlords and leasing agents. Now that the world knows the dangers of asbestos, the ones who get sued are company or building owners who, despite their awareness of asbestos dangers, still continued using asbestos, and in the process risk the lives of their workers / people / tenants.

Money Lost Is Money Gained

When these owners get sued by the victims of asbestos illnesses, they most often than not lose more money than they intended. Money lost by companies are then awarded to victims and the amount could reach millions to billions of dollars. The victims who filed for asbestos law suits did so in order to recover from the financial loss that their illnesses brought to their lives. Here are the likely financial recoveries that defendants who lost asbestos law suits pay for:

- money to compensate for lost income of the victim
- reimbursement for the cost of medical bills of the victim
- reimbursement for the cost of health insurance of the victim
- money to cover funeral costs in the event that the victim dies

It's Best To Consult With An Asbestos Lawyer

Aside from the victims/patients, there are also some people who file for asbestos law suits because they believe that they will contract the disease sometime in the future, and this is allowed in some states. The regulations stipulated in these asbestos law suits will help these people prepare for the financial and physical onslaught of the disease. But before asbestos law suits should be filed, an asbestos lawyer who is familiar with these proceedings must first be consulted to know if there is even a chance for the defendant to win the case.

In the case of severe asbestos diseases like mesothelioma, lung cancer and other cancer of the internal organs, asbestos attorneys are usually equipped with the right amount of experience and training to predict if a case will win or not. A skilled asbestos attorney will have the legal knowledge, as well as the connections to put pressure to reluctant parties into accepting their accountability. There are even a lot of attorneys who end up having their client collect compensation even if there has been no trial.

Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Overall, asbestos law suits can get very stressful and complicated. But they are filed because they're the last resort to seeking justice for a disease that could have been prevented. If you are thinking of filing for one, prepare your heart, mind, and soul. Consult with an experienced asbestos lawyer. Seek the support of your family and friends. With proper and complete documentations, help of a good asbestos lawyer, and belief in the justice system, know that there will always light at the end of the tunnel.

What is Malignant Mesothelioma Cancer?

Malignant Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a rare and virulent cancer of the mesothelial surfaces, which affects the lining of the lungs (pleural), the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) or the lining around the heart (pericardium). Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to mineral fibers (asbestos, for example).

Some have been exposed to their work and secondarily by other family members who unwittingly, have reduced fiber to the home of their work in their clothes or their hair or on their skin. Most often mesothelioma cancer is the result of exposure from 20 to 50 years or more ago.

Malignant Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that starts in the mesothelium, a membrane that covers and protects most internal organs of the body. The mesothelium is composed of two layers, one surrounding the body itself, and the other forms a sac around it completely. A small amount of fluid is normally produced between these two layers, lubricating the motion of bodies protected. When normal cells of the mesothelium lose control and spread rapidly, they produce mesothelioma. The form of mesothelioma the most common is pleural mesothelioma. It occurs in the pleura, the lining of the lungs. Other forms are peritoneum mesothelioma, reaching the peritoneum lining the abdominal cavity and pericardial mesothelioma of the pericardium.

The occurrence of this disease, sometimes referred to asbestos cancer, this fiber is the main risk factor known for this type of cancer is not indicative of a minimum threshold of exposure and medical treatment has an impact limited to the life expectancy of patients, usually 12 to 18 months. A real market for lawyers mesothelioma cancer exists in the United States, certain keywords are present for example: mesothelioma lawyers, mesothelioma attorneys, also mesothelioma or mesothelioma treatments.

The first signs found on clinical examination are chest pain, often associated with breathlessness and recurrent pleural effusion, usually bleeding. The latency between first exposure and the development of mesothelioma is seldom less than 20 years, often around 30 to 40 years or more. It does not seem to exist a threshold value of exposure in relation to risk of onset.

He described cases of pleural mesothelioma occurring in the family environment close to the workers exposed to asbestos, subjects were exposed due to contamination of residential premises or during maintenance of dusty clothes. Tobacco plays a synergistic role of cofactor in the risk of developing mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma Pleural Symptoms

Mesothelioma Pleural

Mesothelioma Pleural or Pleural Mesothelioma is generally a severe form of cancer that affects the membrane lining in the thoracic cavity. There are a few benign cases as well. The inhaling of asbestos dust either during the mining or manufacturing or handling of the material or from the systems and applications in which it is used is believed to be cause of this sickness.

The latency period, that is, the time taken for the symptoms to manifest, is anywhere from twenty to forty years. The time lag may even extend to fifty years. Because of this, most patients diagnosed with this disease are in the age group of sixties or seventies. Some may not even remember their exposure to asbestos. By the time the warning signs are noticed and correctly diagnosed, the disease may be in an advanced stage where treatment could be non-effectual.

Unfortunately, mesothelioma pleural doesn't have any distinctive symptoms that prima facie identify the disease. The usual indications are dyspnea (shortness of breath), persistent coughing, disphagia (difficulty in swallowing), and tightness in chest accompanied by chest pain. Some patients may develop swelling of the neck, face and arms. This may indicate that the mesothelioma has spread. There could also be wheezing, hoarseness, fever and sweating, fatigue, sensory loss and nausea. At the advanced stage there may be hymoptysis (coughing up of blood).

The symptoms are mainly caused by effusion, which in this case means fluid collection in the thoracic area. Also, the delicate membrane covering the lungs may thicken and thus reduce expansion and contraction. In certain cases no perceptible signs may show till the cancer has spread beyond control.

Out of the symptoms of mesothelioma pleural the major ones are shortness of breath (90%) and weight loss (29%). About 84% of patients have pleural effusions (fluid collection).

Mesothelioma Symptoms and Treatment

Mesothelioma Symptoms

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that develops in the mesothelium; the protective lining that covers the internal organs of the body. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos and the most common form of Mesothelioma is pleural, which affects the lungs, but it can also develop in the peritoneum, which lines the abdominal cavity, and the pericardium - the sac that surrounds the heart. In males it can sometimes be found in the tunica vaginalis, which is the sac that surrounds the testis.

While Mesothelioma remains a relatively rare cancer, there are more and more cases being reported by the older generation who may have been exposed to asbestos in industrial working environments in their younger years. The countries with the highest rate of Mesothelioma cases are Britain, Belgium and Australia, with 30 per 1,000,000 per year.

What makes Mesothelioma so difficult to treat is the fact that it can take 20-50 years for symptoms to develop and when they do present themselves, they are commonly mistaken for other illnesses and suffers sometimes misdiagnose themselves before seeing a doctor.

Signs of Mesothelioma include shortness of breath, chest or abdominal pain, fatigue, hoarseness or wheezing and unexpected weight loss. In severe cases of the disease, Mesothelioma symptoms may include blood clots in veins, pleural effusion, low level of blood sugar and jaundice.

Because Mesothelioma symptoms are similar to a lot of other common conditions, and because of the latency of the disease, diagnosis of Mesothelioma can be difficult and by the time Mesothelioma is detected, it is often too late.

Unforunately, the life expentancy for people diagnosed with the cancer is rarely more than a couple of years and in most cases, is just a few months. There are, however, treatments available that can slow the progression of this aggressive cancer and expand the amount of time that sufferers have left. These include chemotherapy, radiotherapy and in some cases, surgery. Mesothelioma treatment can be effective in shrinking tumors in the early stages of the disease, but cures are incredibly rare and the prognosis remains sadly disappointing.

Because Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos, many cases are due to working conditions of people in the past where asbestos was present in their working environment. Compensation may be available to those who contracted the disease due to inhaling asbestos or being exposed to the fumes in jobs they held and many dedicated law firms can help people affected to file lawsuits against their former employers.

Lisa lost her grandmother to Mesothelioma in 2010 and has since researched the disease in an attempt to help others affected by it. For more information on treatments available to those diagnosed with Mesothelioma, click here.

Different Types of Mesothelioma Cancer Treatments

mesothelioma cancer

If someone is in the unfortunate position to be suffering from mesothelioma cancer they are likely to be offered a choice of treatments, which will be dependent on several factors relating to the patients age and general health, the stage of the disease, and the particular area of the cancer.

Basically, there are three main types of mesothelioma cancer treatments offered to the patient:
Chemotherapy:

If the chosen course of action is chemotherapy then this relies on using high-strength drugs in an attempt to kill off the cancerous cells. Chemotherapy is administrated via a needle direct into a muscle or vein or taken in pill form. On entering the body, the chemotherapy drug is designed to enter the bloodstream and pass throughout the entire body and kill any of the cancerous cells that it makes contact with.

Surgery:

When it has been decided that surgery might be the most effective course of treatment, a patient will have this procedure performed in order to remove the cancerous cells from the body. The part of the body suffering with the cancerous cells is likely to be removed along with any necessary tissue in the surrounding areas. In situations where the cancer has started to spread, for instance it is starting to impact the lungs; it might be necessary for a pneumonectomy to be performed, which is the surgical procedure of removing one of the lungs. In the process of the surgery, the surgeons will attempt to remove all signs of the cancerous growths if at all possible.

Radiation Therapy:

The last option in relation to mesothelioma cancer treatment is radiation therapy and this is a process of using a range of high energy rays to help in shrinking and killing off the cancerous cells. A patient has a choice of either internal or external radiation therapy, with each choice being highly effective in what it needs to do in shrinking the tumors. Internal radiation therapy is a process of placing thin plastic tubes inside the body in order to direct the high-energy x-rays on to the tumors, whereas with the external radiation therapy, a machine will direct the x-rays on the outside of the body.

Beyond receiving just one type of treatment, many patients are offered a combination of the above mentioned therapies in order to help kill or slow the growth of the cancerous sounds. This combined treatment is referred to as multimodal therapy. Even though there isn't a cure for this form of cancer, if a patient is able to receive the right treatment at an early stage it can go a long way to improving on a person's lung function and reducing pain.

Find Help at Asbestos Lawyers Firms

 Asbestos Lawyers Firms

Until the 70s, asbestos was regularly used in buildings, and when the toxic nature of the material was discovered, some of those buildings were torn down, exposing the construction staff to asbestos silicates which have poisoned them. Even today, it is possible to find asbestos in some buildings, but there are now strict laws about how it can be removed, ensuring that people are not exposed to the same risk. For those who were construction workers in 70s and early 80s, the exposure to asbestos has resulted in serious illnesses, including a fast-moving cancer called mesothelioma. For anyone suffering from asbestos-related illnesses, it makes sense to contact asbestos lawyers about the problem, and seek compensation.

There are a number of different types of cancer which are related to exposure to asbestos. One of the most well known of these asbestos cancers is Mesothelioma. This develops many years after the asbestos has been inhaled, and is associated with inflammation caused by the silicates. This cancer develops through tumors in the lung and heart linings, or in the abdominal cavity area. Because this is such a fast moving cancer, it is considered advisable for the patient to seek help from asbestos lawyers as soon as possible.

Another variety of asbestos cancers is asbestos-related lung cancer. It is considered to be a high-risk for those who were exposed to the material. It is these lung cancers which are diagnosed more than any other variety, and between 5 and 10 thousand people are believed to have died every year for the past 20 years. Because this type of lung cancer is related to whether the asbestos worker is a smoker or not, asbestos lawyers will be needed to seek the advice of expert doctors in order to gain any compensation.

As well as these types of asbestos cancer, patients can also suffer from other cancers, including gastrointestinal cancer, and colorectal cancer. These can also be difficult to diagnose and treat, meaning that sufferers will go for many years without realizing that they have a life-threatening cancer. Other cancers include breast or prostate cancer, Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, and leukemia. There is also additional risk that the patient can develop cancers in the throat and esophagus, caused by inhaling the silicate fibers of asbestos. If your doctor has linked any of these conditions with previous exposure to the material, then it is essential that you contact a lawyer who has experience in handling these types of claims. They can help to guide you through the experience, and their knowledge could be vital.

Reasons You May Need A Mesothelioma Law Firm

Mesothelioma Law

There are a lot of different things that you can deal with in this life, and some of them are tragic. Losing a loved one to illnesses associated with work related issues can be seriously painful. Not only that, some may not have been their fault, and that can truly be heart wrenching. One such malady that many people contract from working in and around certain elements is that of mesothelioma. This comes from direct or even indirect contact with asbestos. If you or someone you know has to deal with the issues associated with this malady, contact a Mesothelioma Law Firm could be beneficial. In fact, there are several reasons why you may need to call someone.

First and foremost, you should know that every single person has rights that need defending. Whether you are told that you have them or not, you have rights that are inherently present at your work place. Even if you're working in hard conditions, or in construction, there are certain things that you need to protect. When something comes your way and could cause injury, even if it's long after you've done a job, you need help and support. Only a legal team can tell you want you need to do and what you can benefit from as a result of getting some help.

If you are not truly convinced that you need help, perhaps the monetary compensation that is owed to you may help. People that have been victims of this issue will be glad to know that they have money owed to them. There are a lot of claims that can be made in response to the asbestos industry and there is money set aside to help. Not only is this money that will just sit around, it could end up going back to industry fat cats. Only a legal representative can make a claim for the damages that have been caused as a result of exposure to this deadly substance.

For those that aren't sure whether or not they need legal help, consider that it's impossible to get compensated without the help of an attorney. This is not about suing for nothing, it's in regards to medical bills, and even funeral expenses for working class families that have been jerked around by insensitivity to the health risks involved with working around asbestos. There is financial help out there, and it's specifically set aside for families that need it most, especially when a loved one starts to grow ill and needs considerable medical attention.

In the end, there are a lot of reasons you may need to call a firm. The ones mentioned here are just a few things that you may want to look at. However, they are not the only things that you may want to look into. If you feel that you have a case, or if you're not sure, call a lawyer and ask them about the situation. You may be surprised with the end result, but you won't know it if you don't ask.

What is a Mesothelioma Lawyer?

Mesothelioma Lawyer

What is a Mesothelioma Lawyer?

Mesothelioma lawyers deal specifically with cases concerning people being exposed to asbestos in the work environment. Asbestos was used as a building material years ago because it was not flammable and did not conduct electricity. However, later studies have shown it can cause some forms of cancer.

Mesothelioma, a form of cancer that affects the inner lining of the chest, is one of those forms of cancer. Because asbestos was a common building material and is still found, there has been a call for mesothelioma lawyers to look into cases of people who were exposed to asbestos and have been diagnosed with this form of cancer.

Mesothelioma lawyers deal specifically with cases concerning people being exposed to asbestos in the work environment. Because asbestos was a common building material and is still found, there has been a call for mesothelioma lawyers to look into cases of people who were exposed to asbestos and have been diagnosed with this form of cancer.

The Mesothelioma Lawyer and Asbestos Cases :

Before asbestos was found to be a potential cause for cancer, it was seen as a great building material. Therefore it was used a lot, and both workers who installed it and employees who worked in these buildings were unknowingly exposed to a cancerous element. These people are only now seeing the effects of their exposure to asbestos, and are bringing cases against the companies that either installed it or owned the buildings. The cases are increasing, causing a need for a specialized brand of lawyer - the mesothelioma lawyer.
Some types of asbestos that can cause cancer:
  • Amosite
  • Anthophyllite
  • Chrysotile
  • Crocidolite
Mesothelioma Lawyers and the Courtroom :

Though has not yet been definitively proven that asbestos cause Mesothelioma, many studies have been done to prove a link between the two... enough studies to make mesothelioma lawyers very busy. The asbestos is made of loosely bonded fibers, which can easily be separated.

These fibers can float in the air and easily get into your respiratory system. Before these studies, when asbestos was used as a common material, no one suggested the need for proper safety procedures - a fact that mesothelioma lawyers point to as a reason their clients now have this form of cancer.

Get to Know Everything About Mesothelioma

mesothelioma

Mesothelium is a type of tissue lining the lungs, stomach, heart and other vital organs. Once these tissues are exposed to risk factors, specifically asbestos, an individual becomes susceptible to a rare type of cancer we call mesothelioma cancer.

Also known as malignant mesothelioma, this illness comes in three types: pleural, peritoneal, and pericardial mesothelioma. Pleural mesothelioma is the most common type, accounting to more than 70 percent of all cases of mesothelioma. This usually afflicts the pleura, a lining in the lungs. Meanwhile, peritoneal mesothelioma attacks the abdominal cavity, while pericardial mesothelioma originates from the cardial lining pericardium.

In the United Kingdom alone, more than 2,300 people are found positive with mesothelioma symptoms. People who are constantly exposed to asbestos, be it at home or at work. This could either be direct exposure or through inhalation, although a person does not usually develop the disease, let alone manifest mesothelioma symptoms until many years after his exposure. In fact, according to the National Cancer Institute, it could even take takes 30-50 years to manifest mesothelioma.

Washing clothes of someone who has direct contact with asbestos, and other indirect factors, could also put a person at risk of mesothelioma.

While tobacco and mesothelioma do not have any significant relationship with each another, smoking could hasten asbestos-induced lung cancer.

Individuals who were exposed to asbestos could be susceptible to "collected damages for asbestos-related disease," mesothelioma being one of them. This stems to the legal issues surrounding compensation via asbestos funds or class action lawsuits regarding mesothelioma, a hot topic these days.

The most common symptoms of mesothelioma include shortness of breath caused by pleural effusion, which happens upon the formation of fluid between lungs and chest walls. Also common are chest pains and rapid weight loss. Chest x-ray and CT scan could reveal the presence of mesothelioma, although more specific confirmations via serous effusion cytology or biopsy and microscopic examination.

Although chemotherapy, radiation and cobalt therapies, as well as surgery sometimes, are proven effective in combating cancer, the same could not be said with mesothelioma given the poor mesothelioma prognosis as manifested by patients.

However, recent scientific research has produced significant breakthroughs with regard to treatment protocols for mesothelioma patients and more options are now available for managing mesothelioma and supporting improved quality of life. This sheds light, especially the afflicted individuals, who endure the physical, emotional, and financial strain of a seemingly hopeless condition. Likewise, recently diagnosed patients often bombard their physicians about what treatment is best for this disease. Aside from the traditional cancer therapies we've mentioned above, lately-introduced chemotherapy drugs such as Alimta® and Cisplatin have shown promising results in some patients with mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma Surgery Option

mesothelioma surgery

Exposure to asbestos is the number one cause of Mesothelioma. Many doctors recommend mesothelioma surgery to remove the main tumor and any nearby tissues if they should happen to contain cancer cells as well.

The trouble with mesothelioma is that it does not normally show up in patients for anywhere from 30 to 40 years after exposure to asbestos. Asbestos is the leading cause of this type of cancer and a person may have breathed in the microfiber particles or swallowed them without realizing that anything has occurred.

There are many mesothelioma treatment options available and some physicians prefer to combine mesothelioma surgery with chemotherapy or radiation. They do this in an attempt to remove or reduce the tumor so that any further growth can be interrupted.

In addition to surgery, doctors may perform a procedure called thoracentesis which drains fluid that has been built up around the lungs causing pain as well as difficulty in breathing for patients. If the mesothelioma is located near the abdominal area then the fluid is removed with a needle in a method called paracentesis.

Experts claim that the peak before mesothelioma has not yet been seen and some claim that one in every 100 men born in the 1940s will die of mesothelioma. As staggering as this statistic may be the medical industry is continuing to research in an attempt to find successful mesothelioma surgery options for patients diagnosed.

Many patients opt for surgery in an attempt to alleviate pain that comes with the pressure from the tumor and the scar tissue that built up due to the body's immune system making the attempt to rid itself of these asbestos microparticles.

It is said that while no surgery will cure mesothelioma, it will offer some relief of the pain and suffering for the victim of this incurable cancer. There are some who say that once mesothelioma is taken over a person's body there is nothing that can be done to stop it. The good news is that the disease normally attracts one long before the other which gives physicians time to try different procedures including removing part of the infected lung.

Patients who are diagnosed with mesothelioma in its earliest stages may opt for extrapleural pneumonectomy, which is a type of mesothelioma surgery involving the total removal of the mining around the lungs, heart, and diaphragm. This surgery must be performed on a relatively healthy patient and is also accompanied by radiation and chemotherapy. It is said that this procedure may extend the life of a patient by a few more years, one year of which will be used up in recovery.

Mesothelioma surgery is very expensive and is normally used as a last resort. Most insurance companies are not willing to pay the full cost of these procedures leaving patients with unimaginable choices for themselves and for their families. This is the time when many patients decide to consult with attorneys to determine exactly what their legal rights are if they have been exposed to asbestos in the workplace.
